1. Obtain the Medical Documents
When a loved one passes, the hospital or attending doctor will release the official medical certificate of death. You need this before anything else can happen.
2. Choose a Funeral Home or Masjid
Search Yusr’s Verified Burial Homes Directory to find a trusted facility near you. Call them immediately so they can arrange transportation and start the Islamic washing (Ghusl) process.
3. Complete the Paperwork
The funeral home will send you intake forms (such as Form 15 / Statement of Death). Fill these out as soon as possible so the burial isn’t delayed.
4. Forward the Invoices to Yusr
Don’t stress about the finances right now. The funeral home will generate invoices that tpically cover:
– The Service/Funeral Home Fee
– The Burial Plot
– The Grave Opening/Closing Fee
Do not pay these out of pocket. Send the official invoices directly to us. Yusr will coordinate and process the payment directly with the funeral home or Masjid on your behalf.
5. Focus on Your Family
Take the time you need to grieve. Many of our partnered Masjids offer post-burial grief counseling and care programs, lean on your community.
